Look out the window. Can you see a plant? Maybe there’s a tree, grass, bushes, a garden, maybe you even have plants in your house. Chances are there is at least one plant within your view. Why are plants everywhere? Why are they so important? Plants form the base of the food chain in every ecosystem from forests to oceans. They provide oxygen for us to breathe, habitats for wildlife, wood, shade, water filters, and more. We are used to seeing trees like oaks, cedars, and hickories where we live. We have grasses covering the ground and wildflowers during the warm months. It’s pretty clear by this description that we don’t live in the desert.
